This new edition of Thinking Critically
features brand–new readings around which new critical–thinking,
vocabulary, and writing tasks are based. Although many of the same chapter topics are still relevant and are
included again, ALL readings are new. Several new genres of writing (abstracts, for example) and assignments
have also been added.
Thinking Critically helps students improve English skills while exploring major issues in the world through
news articles. Each unit contains two to three articles, a vocabulary review, discussion questions, research and
writing activities, debates/role plays, exercises designed to provoke critical thinking, and a list of suggested
web–sites and books to enhance student understanding.
Students will improve their skills in reading and discussing authentic news articles, conducting research on
the Internet, writing academic papers, debating issues, making oral presentations, and analyzing and writing
about complex issues.
