He begins by counting one at a time, but soon discovers this way is much too slow. He needs to find a faster way to count his enormous collection. Various rainfoest animals including a sloth (an expert on slow) and a trio of tapirs suggest counting methods. Just when Monkey begins counting one way, someone proposes another plan. What will ultimately be the best way for Monkey to complete his funny, ever-changing, arithmetic task?

Wendi Silvano was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has lived in Oregon, Colorado and Peru, where she enjoyed a fair number of coconuts herself. She graduated with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Utah and taught preschool and elementary school for eleven years. She now writes from her home in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she lives with her husband, five kids, two dogs, and a rabbit and two skinks (no monkeys though). In her spare tiime she enjoys reading, hiking, playing the piano and eating banana cream pie.

Marty Granius has been a drawing machine since the age of four and keeps on cranking it out. As a lifelong fan of cartoons and animation, he has developed a style he hopes the young, and young at heart, will enjoy. When not on the drawing board, Marty is treading the boards for several theatrical groups as both an actor and director. He has enjoyoed his career as a fulltime graphic artist for both Jansport, Inc. and Oshkosh B'gosh. If you have a boy wearing sizes newborn??, chances are good they could be wearing some of his artwork. Mary grew up in Wisconsin and Florida and received a degree in Marketing Communications and Graphic Arts from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. He lives in Menasha, Wisconsin.
